SUMMARY OF THE 2019 EDITION!

what happened?

The 33rd edition of the Internationaux de Strasbourg ended a few weeks ago. Disrupt by some bad weather at the beginning of the tournament, this edition still shone through the sporting achievements made throughout the week and was punctuated by many twists and turns. Many surprises were on the agenda to the delight of the spectators. We were able to count on the presence of a Top 10 player and 8 Top 50 players, entertainment on our partners' stands, on the Fan Zone and meetings with the players throughout the week.

Caroline  GARCIA HAS MADE HER COMEBACK ON STRASBOURG'S COURT

The French No. 1, seeded No. 4 in the table and eagerly awaited by the people of Strasbourg, made her comeback in Strasbourg. While her first game was complicated against the American Shelby Rogers and she lost the first set, Caroline Garcia quickly equalized and went back to one set everywhere before winning her game. She then progressed to the women's singles final by taking on Rebecca Peterson, Marta Kostuyk and Chloé Paquet in the semifinals with the support of the public. Despite her determination, she lost face Dayana Yastremska (4/6 - 7/5 - 6/7) in the final.

HIGH-LEVEL FINALS

It was under the heat and sun of Strasbourg that the finals of the double and single event took place. The Australian duo, Daria GAVRILOVA and Ellen PEREZ, won in two sets (6/4 - 6/3), against the Chinese team composed of Xinyun HAN and Yingying DUAN. In the women's singles final, while Dayana YASTREMSKA led 6/4 and 5/3 (40/15) in the first set against Caroline GARCIA, the Frenchwoman made a comeback by winning the second set with a score of 7 games to 5. The games were tight in the 3rd set and the last points had to be played with a tie-break. After 2h58 of hard exchanges, it was finally Dayana YASTREMSKA who won the victory and the Strasbourg 2019 Internationals.

POSITIVE RESULT

On the spectators' side, the atmosphere was wild at the foot of the European Parliament and could attest to the very high quality of the game. The audience lived to the rhythm of the exchanges, the suspense was at its height during the games. Many of you supported the players in the stands, the final was even sold out.

SEE YOU NEXT YEAR!

We look forward to seeing you from 16 to 23 May 2019 for the 34th edition of the Internationaux de Strasbourg.
